2020 September Club Pack
School is back in session, the air has turned crisp, and our September club pack has landed on doorsteps across the UK.
Though summer has come to an end, our Yoto Club members received their September Club Packs to ease that bitter-sweet transition into autumn. The Club Pack featured two brand new exclusive audio cards, and a new calendar with colouring sheets and activities to enjoy. On the 13th of September we celebrated Roald Dahl Story Day with a great colouring activity, and on the 18th we invited our Club members to protect our oceans with a find and search activity to mark The Great British Beach Clean.
What cards did our Club members receive in September? Read on for an overview of the audio cards they’ll be enjoying (before they even hit our Card Store!).
Superworm by Julia Donaldson
“Superworm is super-long! Superworm is super-strong! Watch him wiggle! See him squirm! Hip, hip, hooray for SUPERWORM!” Top-selling children’s author Julia Donaldson (The Gruffalo, Room on the Broom) is back in this month’s Club Pack with Superworm; a story about, that’s right, you guessed it - a wiggly, squiggly superhero. Superworm is always saving the day - but who will rescue him when he falls prey to a wicked Wizard Lizard? This delightful story teaches that friends help each other and will leave those listening with a big smile on their face. It’s funny, silly, and full of rhyming goodness. Along with the complete best-selling story with music, this card also features the Superworm Song and a listening game. Never fear, Supereworm is here!

Funny Bones - The Collection by Janet and Allan Ahlberg
“On a dark dark hill, there was a dark dark town. In the dark, dark town, there was a dark, dark street. In the dark, dark street, there was a dark, dark house”... and in September Club, there was Funny Bones! This card features a collection of the perennially popular Funny Bones books written by Allan Ahlberg who, with his wife Janet, created these award-winning picture books, along with over 100 other children’s books. Stephan Magnan brilliantly brings to life 8 different Funny Bones stories including “The Pet Shop”, “Bumps in the Night”, “Give the Dog a Bone” and more. This card will be sure to be a family favourite - leaving children giggling and adults full of nostalgia.

The Worst Witch by Jill Murphy
Our 5-8-year-olds received Jill Murphy’s The Worst Witch: another dose of nostalgia for the grown-ups, and a real treat for the children discovering it! It’s a magical tale about an accident-prone girl attempting to navigate the magical codes and murky corridors of Miss Cackle’s Academy for Witches. In the first book of the series, we meet Mildred Hubble - a budding witch, and follow her (mis)adventures as she learns all thing witch-like. Though she’s making an awful mess of it! A childhood classic originally published in 1974, that is often said to have inspired the Harry Potter series. It’s spellbinding, superbly silly, and certain to be adored by the next generation alike.
